Reporting
mezein is still young, so what platforms see counts for a lot. When you find a fake, bought or abusive account, report it: that's how it gets caught everywhere else too.
How to report
| Sites | POST /api/v1/reports (details), or Report someone on your dashboard. |
|---|
| Discord | Ban a verified member, take away the verified role, or use /mezein-report. |
|---|
| GitHub | Add the mezein: report label to their pull request, or block them from your organisation. |
|---|
Reasons
bot | Not a real person: a bot, or a fake account. |
|---|
sold_pin | Shared, sold or handed over: the person using it isn't the one who verified. |
|---|
duplicate | The same person as another of your verified accounts: one person, two pins. |
|---|
abuse | Abuse or harassment. |
|---|
text_flag | Your own automated text check flagged it as machine-written. |
|---|
other | Anything else. Add a note. |
|---|
What happens next
- A review opens. mezein staff look at the pin: who vouched for it, how it's been used, other reports. A person makes the decision, never an automated score alone.
- Two platforms pause it. Reports from two different platforms within 30 days pause the pin everywhere until staff decide. Your sites, servers and projects stop seeing them as a person.
- Staff decide. Cleared: the pin carries on. Removed: permanent, and whoever vouched for them is reviewed too, and can't vouch for a while.
- The same platform reporting the same person twice in a day counts once.
- The person isn't told who reported them.
- On Discord and GitHub, a reported account can't verify with you again.
- Your dashboard shows how many people you've reported were removed.
Good practice
- Report what you're fairly sure of, and say why in the note: links spammed, accounts acting together, a sold account changing hands. Notes help staff decide quickly.
- Don't report people for disagreeing with you or breaking your own community rules. mezein only answers “is this a real person, one account each?”. How people behave is up to you.
- Reports from a suspended platform stop counting, so misuse doesn't pay.
